Abstract

326,944. Mesinger, H. Dec. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Helical springs. - A system comprising an outer helical tensionspring combined with an inner helical compressionspring through which a central rod passes is provided with an adjusting- device connecting the two springs so as to vary their initial load. The upper end of the outer spring 7 is fixed bv a bolt 8 and the lower end is secured to an outer sleeve 11, on the upper end of which the inner spring 16 bears, a washer 14 being interposed between the two. The central rod 5 applies a load to the inner spring through an adjustable nut 20 screwed on a sleeve 19, pressed to the rod. The inner spring may be initially compressed by nuts 17, 18 on the lower end of the rod bearing on a washer 15, pressure being transmitted to the washer 14 through an inner sleeve 13 which is a little longer than the outer sleeve 11.
