Abstract
278,901. Ireland, W. E. Nov. 9, 1926. Springs, arrangement of. -A rail vehicle having a body 2 supported on springs 1 on an undertruck has additional resilient means 10 acting between the end of the body and the undertruck to resist upward movement of the end of the body beyond the normal position while permitting free downward movement of the body relatively to the undertruck. A lever 4 pivoted to the undertruck is connected at one end to the body by a loop 7 and at the other to a piston 8 of a cylinder 9 which contains springs 10 which may be of rubber. The compression of air in the cylinder 9 may be utilized as resilient means, an adjustable leak being provided. The cylinder 9 may be situated on the centre line of the vehicle and co-operate with two levers 4 at each side of the vehicle or with a single V-shaped lever.
