Abstract

305,406. McNamara, D. April 5, 1928. Punching-balls.-The supporting standard of a punching-ball is mounted in a spherically-ended member 5 held to a base-plate 19 by means of a compression spring 17. The member 5 is bored to receive a piston-like rotatable coupler 8 flanged at 7 to rest on ball-bearings 9 and having an eye 11 for connection with a bolt 13. The spring 17 is confined between the base-plate and a washer 15 backed by a thrust bearing 25 and a nut 18. The standard is bolted in position in the member 5 a sleeve 6 being interposed and held by the bolt 3. The plate 19 may be mounted on a drum-like box having feet for attachment to the floor.
