India-rubber springs.-A shock-absorber for aeroplanes and other vehicles is formed of superposed rubber washers which are placed to work by compression under load. As applied to the landing-carriage of an aeroplane, the washers f are strung on a rod g supported at the lower end of a member d<2> in which telescopes a member d', the members d<1>, d<2> comprising one of a pair of legs carrying the axle e. The washers are held between bearing surfaces on the members and a spring g<1> limits their expansion. The washers are reduced towards their periphery so that the area of contact increases under compression. The deformation of the washers is limited by the diameter of the tube d<2>.
