Abstract

577,541. Screw gauges. GABBEY, E. G. D. Oct. 25, 1943, No. 17531. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge, Fig. 4, for measuring effective and root diameters of screw-threads, comprises a coil of wire 1 which is expanded by pressure on finger-pieces 5, 7 on the ends of the coil, passed over the job, and then released to grip the threads. An indicator plate 9 with " go " and " not go " markings 10, 11 is fixed to or integral with the piece 7. For measuring root diameters, a triangular section wire is employed. A micrometer may be used to measure the diameter of the coil when it is gripping the threads.
