Abstract
841,062. Screw-thread gauges. SIEMENSPLANIAWERKE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT FUR KOHLEFABRIKATE. July 12, 1957 [July 12, 1956], No. 22243/57. Class 106 (2). A gauge for measuring the diameter of internally-tapering threads 6 comprises a plurality of pins 1 arranged around the axis of a piston 9, one end of each pin 1 bearing against a tapered face 8 carried by the piston 9, their free ends 5 lying on a helix of a pitch corresponding to that of the thread to be tested, and indicating means 11. The pins 1 are each spring-urged towards the axis of the piston 9, and the piston 9 is spring-urged downwards. An arm 10 attached to the piston 9 carries a dial gauge 11, the feeler 12 of which bears against the end face 13 of the workpiece. By means of a handle 16 the piston 9 may be raised, the springs 3 urging the pins 1 inwards, thus facilitating removal of the gauge from the workpiece. The gauge is calibrated by use of an annular master having steps corresponding to a standard thread. In use the reading on the dial gauge 11 gives an indication of the diameter of the thread at a predetermined distance from the end face 13 if the taper of the piston face 8 is the same as that of the thread..
