577,077. Bearings. VANDERVELL PRODUCTS, Ltd., VANDERVELL, G. A., and MALLET, N. P. Dec. 13, 1943, No. 20864. [Class 12 (i)] A multi-ply bearing consists of a soft-metal layer, e.g. Babbit metal, a thin heat-conducting layer, e.g. silver, and a bearing layer, e.g. lead-bronze. These layers are formed on a steel backing, the silver layer being Electrodeposited, preferably on a bonding layer of copper, tin, or cadmium. The soft metal layer rr.ay consist of lead infused with indium. The silver layer may be prepared by chemical or electrolytic etching.
