[Class 7 (v)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXI] A portable power unit for energising aircraftengine starters comprises a power unit 1 which is self-contained and mounted in a frame having members 7, 8, one of which forms a base to support the unit when in operation, and which are formed circular for rolling the unit from place to place when not in operation. The members 7, 8 are connected by curved members 9, 11, 13 which form a reel for the flexible driving shaft which may be coiled round them when not in use, its ends being accommodated in connections 16, 18 having a bayonet and a screw and socket joint respectively. When in use, the flexible shaft is connected to either of two couplings 2 on either side of the engine according to whether right-hand or left-hand drive is rerequired. The power unit described is an internal-combustion engine which is carried on a frame 5 mounted on three resilient supports 20 arranged in a plane passing through the centre of gravity of the engine. A modified engine mounting comprises channel section bearing members formed X or K in a plan, to which the engine is bolted, and which is carried by resilient mountings directly from the frame. A casing for the power unit may be provided inside the frame.
