Abstract

555,086. Portable mechanical saws. PHILLIPS & POWIS AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and ROBERTSON, F. H. Oct. 28,1941, No. 13875. [Class 145 (ii)] A portable driving head comprising an electric motor 6 shown in dotted lines manipulated by a hand-grip 5 and driving a countershaft 7, is adapted to drive a reciprocating pad saw 15 by securing to it by a clamping band 19 two supporting arms 17, 18 for a guide 16 in which the saw-carrying chuck 14 is reciprocated by a driving connection 11 with a disc 10 mounted on countershaft 7. According to the Provisional Specification the driving head may itself be driven by a flexible cable &c. instead of by an electric motor.
