Abstract
In a process for the synthetic production of hydrocarbon oils containing a high content of olefines, water gas, blue water gas, or water gas obtained by the complete gasification of coal, or a mixture of these, is heated to 160-250 DEG C. in the presence of an iron, nickel or cobalt catalyst, the carbon dioxide removed from the product, and the residual gas mixed with a gas having a high hydrogen content (such as coke oven gas which has been reacted at an elevated temperature with steam, or water gas heated to 400-500 DEG C. with steam in the presence of an iron, nickel or cobalt catalyst), and passing the mixture over an iron, nickel or cobalt catalyst at 160-250 DEG C. The catalyst may be treated with an activator such as thoria. The gas rich in hydrogen may be passed over the catalyst of a previous final operation before mixing with the carbon dioxide-free gas if desired.
