Abstract
575,272. Universal joints. WOOLLEY, S., DAWSON, S., and EYRE, A. J. March 7, 1944, No. 4218. [Class 80 (ii)] In a universal joint of the type having bifurcated arms 11, 12 engaging pivot pins 13 in a central block 10, the pins 13 are screwed into the block and have their ends cone-shaped as shown at 13b, Fig. 2. A central hole 14 is then drilled through the block at right angles to the pivot pins, as shown in Fig. 4, and a locking pin 15, Fig. 7, inserted to engage with the curved ends of the pins. The ends of the locking pin 15 may be riveted over as shown or sealed by welding, soldering or brazing.
