Abstract

574,895. Belt and countershaft gearing. SAUNDERS, A. Dec. 29, 1943, No. 21781. [Classes 80 (i) and 80 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXV] A self-contained portable power unit comprises a stand formed of end walls A joined by spindles B passing through slots C, the spindles being threaded so that the walls are held by nuts and their distance apart is adjustable. A driving motor G is mounted on a pivoted platform D, positioned by nuts on an eyebolt F, and drives a pulley M mounted on a shaft K. The pulley O of the machine to be driven is connected by a belt to the cone pulleys N on the shaft K and the belt passes over jockey pulleys J which are carried by bearings adjustable on the end walls A; further drives can be taken from the jockey shafts to other machines. The spindles are adjustable in the slots C to clear the various driving belts.
