Abstract

574,351. Cartridge belts for machine guns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS Ltd., HIGSON, P. R., and WISE, R. Feb. 8, 1943, No. 2086. [Class 92 (ii)] Open-sided. C-section metal links hinged together by pins 4 have the cartridge gripping portion supplemented by locking extensions 7 pivoted on the pins 4 which prevent lateral removal of the round until the locks are automatically released at the position for transfer of a round to the gun breech. In the form shown, portions 14 of the locks 7 engage the ends 12 of a spring strip riveted to the top of the link 1, these ends being raised by fixed cam members on the belt guide to release the locks just prior to the stripping of the round from the link.
