Abstract

574,242. Securing panels and wallboards. HITCHINS, S. Jan., 20, 1944, No. 1103. [Class 20 (iv)] Means for retaining boards in position against a supporting, suitably slotted section bar comprises a clip formed from strip or plate shaped to have some degree of compressibility and having means for engaging the section bar to prevent endwise movement of the clip, so that a board is easily slipped between the end portion of the clip and the supporting flange, slight inequalities in the thickness of the board being taken up by compression of the clip. As shown in Fig. 2, a clip a has a longitudinal hump b and a notch c with inturned lugs d for gripping the sides of a slot in a section bar. In a modification, Fig. 9, the notch is punched up in the top of the hump b and two lugs e are formed which grip the web g of a T-bar. The ends a<1> of the clip may be upturned to facilitate entry of the clip. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), one upturned end only may be provided the other end having fangs to grip the board.
