Abstract

622,156. Securing wall boards &c. ANDERSON & SON, Ltd., C. F., and DUNKERLEY, V. Feb. 13, 1947, No. 4146. [Class 20(iv)] A T, L, I or like section beam &c. has a web 3 with slots or apertures 4 and a flange 1, 2 which supports the edge portion of a wall, etc., board a, the board being secured by a wedge device formed of bent strip metal with a base 8, 9 engaging the upper face of the board and a sloping surface 5 extending into a slot in the beam with the edge 4a of the slot engaging a transverse corrugation or projection b on the sloping surface to hold the wedge in position and flex the sloping surface whereby the board is pressed against the flange. The portions 8, 9 may extend inwardly to approximately the centre and be upturned at the ends or the portion 10 at the thin end may be pressed against the sloping side 5a, and these portions may be barbed to dig into the boards and prevent movement. The corrugations may be replaced by projecting tongues, teeth, or burrs. The wedges may be used with boards of different thickness and apertures 4 of varying size.
