Abstract
572,636. Flame projectors. FILMA BURNERS, Ltd., and MARSDEN, A. March 11, 1941, Nos. 3305 and 3306. [Class 119] Flame - projection devices comprise a flame-controlling and directing device 3 having a casing 4 into which the muzzle of a barrel 1 is fitted and which contains a valve element 5 sliding in the casing 4 and with its front end serving to form a valve in conjunction with a nozzle 8. Liquid fuel (supplied through hose connection 16) passes through the band to control device 3 and out through nozzle 8 when the valve is opened by means of a trigger drawing back a rod 13 connected by a lost-motion device to valveelement 5. A pilot fuel-jet 9 under nozzle 8 is supplied from a chamber 15, also serving to supply the barrel and is ignited by an ignition plug 11 acting under control of switch 37 ; a control valve for the pilot jet is opened by the trigger device, which controls the barrel supply, the latter being delayed in commencement owing to the lost-motion connection. A fuel reservoir apparatus shown in Fig. 7, comprises four fuel containers 39 to 42 inclusive and a compressed-air cylinder 43, which has a filling valve 51 and reducing valve 52.
