[Class 103 (i)] [Also in Groups XIX and XXXV] An electromagnetic coupling, dynamometer or eddy current brake comprises a squirrel-cage or solid-cored eddy current type secondary co-operating with a salient pole member with individual windings on the poles, at least some of the poles having a plurality of slots (and teeth) on the pole face. In the form shown, the slip coupling has slots 7 and teeth 8 on the faces of the salient poles 4 co-operating with an unlaminated secondary 19 having slots 20. In other modifications, the secondary has a double squirrel-cage with two conductors per slot, or a cage with one deep bar per slot.
