[Class 39 (iii)] An electric water heater for supply of lowpressure steam, e.g., for cooking or sterilizing dairy utensils, comprises two chambers 10, 11 spaced apart and parallel and arranged one lower than the other, interconnected at top and bottom by pipes 12, 13, the upper chamber 11 having a float-controlled water inlet 14 and valve-controlled steam outlet pipe 19 and serving as a feed water reservoir and steam separator, while the lower chamber 10 has secured thereto at opposite ends electric immersion heating elements 21, 22 projecting into the chamber at different levels. The lower chamber 10 serves as a steam generator and is filled almost completely with water to level X. The upper chamber is only one-third filled to level Y and carries a -water-level indicator 18 and spring- loaded safety valve 20. Removable hoods 23, 24 are placed over the ends of sockets 10<1>, 10<11> carrying the heating elements, which are controlled by a thermostate. The lower chamber is supported by brackets 25 and the upper chamber has lugs 26 to receive supports. The lower part of the level indicator 18 is connected to the chamber 10 by a pipe 27. The top of the ball float 17 is flattened to facilitate insertion into the end of the chamber 11, which has a removable cover 15.
