Abstract

570,499. Testing balance of bodies. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., GILFORD, C. L. S., and HARDMAN, J. H. Aug. 17, 1943, No. 13320. [Class 106 (ii)] An apparatus for testing and indicating the static balance of a rotary body such as a tyre tube, comprises a member 1 supported horizontally in bearings 3 at each end on a framework 4, a support 8 carried by the member 1 with a vertical axis 5 about which the body 6 is rotatable, a spring-supported lever 7 extending at right angles to the axis of the support 8, and means coacting with the lever to give a magnified indication of the angular movement of the lever. The lever 7 is suspended at its free end by a cantilever blade spring 10 and a filament 12. The magnifying means comprises a rocking mirror 13 associated with the lever, a fixed mirror 15, a lamp 18 and a transparent scale 14 upon which a beam of light is directed by the mirrors.
