Abstract
775,803. Testing dynamic balance. VEB GERATEUND REGLER-WERKE TELTOW. June 10, 1955, No. 16762/55. Class 106(2). The body whose unbalance is to be measured; e.g. a vehicle wheel 7, is mounted on a shaft 3 suspended by a bearing 2 about a point 0 to oscillate with two degrees of freedom, the other end of the shaft 3 being spring-loaded as at 12 and carrying a light source 20 observable on a screen 26 by mirrors 18, 24, 25 once per revolution of the shaft 3 by means of an aperture in a drum 19 rotating with the shaft. The mirror 18 is mounted on a shaft 16 secured in a fixed frame by one universal joint 17 and secured by a second universal joint 15 to a lever 11a which partakes in the oscillations of the shaft 3 so that unbalance of the wheel 7 is depicted on the screen 26 by displacement of the image of the source 20 from a zero position which may be defined in a test run using a wheel of known, or zero, unbalance. The zero position of the image may be adjusted by movement of the mirror 25 by a threaded control lever 27.
