Abstract
569,682. Making chenille yarn. BAUER, K. Nov. 18, 1943, No. 19300. [Class 142 (iv)] In a machine for the production of chenille yarn of the type making a considerable number of ends, the core threads being wound off cheeses &c. and the chenille yarn being wound on to bobbins by flyers which impart twist to the yarn, the pile yarn being cut by a grooved roller which co-operates with a plain roller, the shaft D, driving the front spindle E, is driven by a shaft C through cone pulleys C<2>, D<2> and belt c whereby the spindle speed may be varied to alter the pile, the shaft C being driven by stepped pulleys A<1>, C<1> from the driving-shaft A. The cutting and delivery rollers F, G are driven, also from the shaft A, through chain, sprocket and spur gearing. The shafts L, which drive the flyers K, are driven from the shaft B, provided with fast and loose pulleys b<1>, b<2>, the shafts L being connected by spur gearing and driving the flyers through bevel gears l so arranged that all flyers rotate in the same direction. To reverse the direction of the flyers an intermediate wheel is positioned between the gears l<1>, l<3> of the drive to the flyers.
