Abstract
569,195. Catalytic dehydrogenation. SHELL DEVELOPMENT CO. June 15, 1943, No. 9581. Convention date, July 17, 1942. [Class 1 (i)] In the dehydrogenation of sulphur-bearing organic compounds with heavy metal oxide catalysts, the latter before regeneration are treated with water vapour at 500-1500‹ F. to remove sulphur compounds, and after regeneration they are flushed with an inert gas free of oxygen and water vapour. The invention is particularly applicable to the dehydrogenation of butane, butylene, or propane fractions with catalysts comprising chromium oxide and alumina.
