Abstract
569,079. Ganges. TUCKER, C. L. W. June 21, 1943, No. 9994, Addition to 546,877. [Class 106 (ii)] An adjustable slip gauge with oppositely directed metal wedges and a screw adjusting means as described in the parent Specification is provided with means to lock the screwactuated means in position after adjustment. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the wedges a, b, co-operate with an actuating screw c with a micrometer head d and a nut i to take up end play. Adjacent the micrometer head is a lock nut cd which bears upon a bush associated with one of the wedges. In another form, Fig. 4, the wedges a, b are maintained in correct relationship by means of bushes s, sa, rigidly associated with the respective wedges and in which the threaded spindle t is supported. The spindle t is held against rotation. Nuts u, v on the spindle are accommodated in slots w, x formed in the wedges; manipulation of the nuts effects the adjustment. In a further modification, Fig. 7, two oppositely directed actuating screws bb are provided which are operated. together to effect the adjustment. The height to which the gauge is set may be indicated by a scale ff on the wedge b, Fig. 1, and a vernier scale ee on the wedge a.
