Abstract

568,942. Dynamos. FITZPATRICK, H., and FITZPATRICK, A. A. Oct. 25, 1943, No. 17508. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXIV] A lighting dynamo driven from the rim or tyre of a cycle wheel and having a stationary casing, has the armature and magnet rotatable in opposite directions. In the form shown, the armature B is on shaft C<SP>1</SP> carrying disc S<SP>3</SP> driving disc S secured to magnet D through friction balls carried by spider S<SP>1</SP>, the two discs being urged together by spring S<SP>6</SP>. Instead of balls, conical rollers or toothed gearing may be used, whilst the magnet may alternatively be the inner member. As further alternative, the drive may be transmitted by a ball bearing, the two races being connected to the magnet and armature respectively. Current may be collected by brush U<SP>1</SP> engaging a contact ring T connected to the armature winding.
