568,698. Caps for thermionic valves. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., and SMITH, H. S. May 26, 1943, No. 8420. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In the manufacture of a thermionic valve or electric lamp of the kind having an insulating cap secured to a vitreous envelope by a thermosetting cement, setting is effected, at least in part, by heating by electromagnetic induction a metal body carried on the inner surface of the cap. The metal body may be a non- magnetic ring moulded in the cap and heated by eddy currents, or a split ring or a few turns of a helix of steel wire or strip sprung into the cap and heated by magnetic hysteresis.
