Abstract
568,467. Hand-stamps; printing- surfaces. BROOKS, C. E. Jan. 21, 1944, No. 1198. [Class 100 (ii)] A hand-stamp for endorsing &c. is constructed, so as to enable impressions to be registered exactly, of a plate, block, frame or the like a of transparent material to one face of which rubber or like type e is attached in such manner that the operator can see an exact outline of the impression and the underlying paper. In Fig. 1, the type e is formed by inserting rubber strip in a grooved reproduction in reverse on the under-surface of the block a, the grooves being formed by an electric engraving drill. Or separate types may be connected in the grooves. As shown in Fig. 7, rubber types in reverse are secured to transparent panels g which are secured in a groove h on the underside of the block a. Alternatively, the panels may be affixed to a plane surface. In another form, a block a of plastic composition is moulded around the type which is placed in the bottom of the mould and covered to the depth corresponding to the required projection of the type in some readily-dissolvable material, e.g. wax, before introducing the plastic material.
