Abstract
406,432. Hand-stamps. CLIFTON, E., JONES, CLIFTON, & CO., Ltd., W., 7, Plough Court, Fetter Lane, London, and RAMSDEN, C., 159, Oldchurch Road, Romford, Essex. Nov. 17, 1932, No. 32561. [Class 100 (ii).] In hand-stamps of the kind wherein a rubber die provided with a sponge rubber backing is attached to a metal plate or holder fixed to a handle, the rubber portion of the stamp is mounted in a box-like metal housing, the cushion being held on all sides by the walls of the housing against lateral or endwise displacement. In one form, the sponge backing 4 of a die 3, Fig. 1, is seated in a rectangular box 1 having vertical sides 2, the backing being secured by adhesive to the top inner surface of the box. In other forms : (1) the walls 2 are undercut, the cushion 4 being dovetail in section and forced into position ; (2) the walls are splayed outwardly and a cushion of corresponding shape is secured by adhesive to the top and side surfaces of the housing. Further, projecting lugs may be formed on the lower edges of the longer sides of the walls to assist in retaining the cushion in position.
