Abstract
477,825. Projection screens. LENNARD, M. April 6, 1936, No. 10088. [Class 97 (i)] The surface of a projection screen consists of recessed stepped cells separated by narrow projecting barriers and occupying the major portion of the screen area. Fig. 1 shows square cells separated by barriers 13 and stepped to form surfaces 10, 11, 12. The width of the surface 11 may be slightly greater than that of the surface 12, and sound-transmitting holes 18, Fig. 4, may open through the sides of the cells from depressions or channels 17 in the back surface of the screen. The cells may be of triangular, hexagonal, circular, or other shape, or may be of irregular shape in random arrangement, and the steps may be curved as at 23, 24, 25 in Fig. 5. The screen may be produced by moulding, the mould being built up from similar separate elements locked in a chase ; it may be of rubber, to permit rolling, and may comprise sponge rubber 15 between surface rubber 14 and a fabric &c. backing 16. The screen may be flat, convex, or concave. According to the Provisional Specification, the stepped cells may be replaced by stepped projections.
