Abstract

The mechanism is for applying a mark to the surface of e.g. cheeses. It comprises a horizontal slide element (1) capable of containing a bush which is open at its lower end. A piston (4) is vertically movable in the bush, which bush contains the plates (6) to be marked, and a cover plate (7) is provided which is vertically movable so as to seal the top of the bush. The cover has a central bore (8) and a radial bore (9) communicating with this central bore. The bush fits in a recess (2) in the slide element which recess has a bottom orifice (15).
