Abstract
567,539. Mounting and traversing arrangements for condensers. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., PROSSER, G. J., and WATTS, C. L. Sept. 8, 1943, No. 14700. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] The surface winding drums 10a, 11a and bobbins 19 of a textile condenser are mounted in bearings 12, 13 slidably mounted on the bobbin frame for axial movement of each drum, means being provided for moving the bobbins axially simultaneously with their drums and driving means for rotating the surface drums in all positions of axial movement. As shown, the shafts 10, 11 of the winding drums 10a, 11a, Fig. 1, are mounted in bearings 12, 13 carried on slides 12a, 13a secured to the frame 14. The bearings 12, 13 are integral with brackets 15 carrying shafts 16 to which are fixed brackets 17 supporting the axles 18 of the bobbins 19. Each two brackets 12, 13 are interconnected by uprights 20 and are traversed as a unit relatively to the guide rail or sliver guides 28 by a pin 22 on a cam 21 engaging a slot 23 in the bar 20. The cam 2 is driven from a stud shaft 26, Fig. 2, through a chain 25 and a bevel gear 24. The drums 10a, 11a are driven from the shaft 26 through a chain 29 and constantlymeshing gear-wheels 33, 34, the latter being slidable on the drum shaft. The arrangement permits the winding of cheeses of greater length and capacity than normally.
