Abstract

495,835. Tape-drive for yarn-doubling &c. machines. STUBBS, Ltd., J., and MARSDEN, F. May 20, 1937, No. 14015. [Class 120 (ii)] In yarn-doubling and like machines wherein endless tapes are arranged to drive four spindles, two on each side of the machine, from a central tin roller rotatable in one direction only, a control and tensioning pulley 7 is arranged substantially vertically between the spindles, as shown in Fig. 1, whereby, by a simple reversal. of the path of the tape, Fig. 2 (not shown), the direction of rotation of the spindles may be reversed. The pulley 7, which may be shaped as shown in Fig. 3 to facilitate removal of the tape for reversal, is carried by a frame sliding on rods 12 under the control of a weight 18, and a blade 17 is provided to engage the tape when reversing. Specification 217,400, [Class 120 (ii)], is referred to. The Provisional Specification comprises also the application to single spindles on each side of the frame.
