567,368. Centrifugal compressors. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 18, 1943, No. 2692. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1942. [Class 110 (i)] In a high-pressure compressor, in which the peripheral speed of the rotor 1 exceeds the speed of sound, the blades 2 are curved in the form of a helix in the direction opposite to the direction of flow, so that the absolute velocity of the compressed fluid at the outlet does not exceed the velocity of sound to such an extent that pressure waves are formed. A compression ratio of at least 2 may be reached in a single-stage machine.. Short blades may be arranged between the blades 2, or the blades 2 may be discontinuous and staggered to prevent turbulence.
