Abstract

566,515. Valve generators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BIGGS, A. J. May 12, 1943, No. 7555. [Class 40 (v)] In a piezo-electric oscillator, the crystal is shunted by an inductance (other than one necessary for the circuit to generate oscillations) to increase the effective impedance across the crystal terminals at the anti-resonant frequency Wo of the oscillator. This inductance is so chosen that where Zx is the impedance of C1 (the capacity of the driving arrangements), R and L (the losses and inductance of the added inductance) and C2 (the shunt capacity in the equivalent circuit of the crystal) in parallel. The driving arrangements are designed to avoid the generation of oscillation at the frequency defined by Land (C1+C2).
