Abstract

566,051. Thermostats. - PARKINSON STOVE CO., Ltd., and HICKINBOTTOM, E. T. July 17, 1943, No. 11671. [Class 135] A thermostat, particularly adapted for use on gas-heated ovens, of the kind having a spring-loaded valve member 46, actuated by a thermo-sensitive member 44 and adapted to co-operate with a seat 47 adjustably screwed into the casing is fitted with a locating member adapted to hold the seating against appreciable angular movement but normally held out of action by a cover or other removable casing part. As shown in the Figure, the locating member comprises a spring-loaded plunger 50 adapated to co-operate with a series of serrations on the underside of a flange on the valve seat. The plunger is normally held out of action by a finger 52 on a cover 49 secured to the casing by screws 51. The seat is adjusted by a spindle 53 having longitudinally extending arms 55 engaging peripheral notches in the flange. The spindle has a manipulating head 56 and is fitted with a graduated dial 62 held against a nut on the spindle by a spring 67. An arm 65 adjustably secured to the spindle engages a recess on the dial and also co-operates with stops on the casing. The dial is viewed through a window 63 in a cover 57, 58 located by pins 59 engaging the casing. In a modification, the cover is screwed into place, and a flange on the cover engages the locating plunger to hold it out of action.
