Abstract
565,892. Vehicle wheels. HOWEY, P. May 25, 1943, No. 8316. [Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii)] A wheel of the kind having a rim divided into segments, each carrying an independent portion of a pneumatic tyre, so that a segment carrying a punctured section of the tyre can be replaced without removing the wheel, comprises a disc divided diametrically into halves a, a<1> carrying halves c, c<1> of the rim, on which are mounted corresponding halves of the tyre cover h enclosing independent sections of the inner tube. The cover may be held by studs k projecting through the rim c from retaining wires m or half rings embedded in the cover. The half disc carrying a punctured half tyre may be removed and replaced while the vehicle is supported on the other half.
