Abstract

565,889. Transporting aeroplane fuselages. ALLEN, P. J., and ALLEN & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., A. H. April 21, 1943, No. 6436. [Class 108 (i)] Aeroplane fuselages are transported by the use of a wheeled structure adapted to be fitted transversely over the top of the fuselage and around its sides, detachable fastening means being provided whereby the fuselage can be suspended from and supported by the wheeled structure while lifted off the ground ; the points of suspension are near the nose of the fuselage, the rear end of which is connected to the rear of a towing vehicle to form a trailertractor combination. Fig. 1 shows an archformed wheel structure 1 comprising two frame members 3 which support the fuselage by fastening means 17 ; as shown in Fig. 2, towing means 13 are provided for transport of the unloaded structure.
