Abstract

564,923. Collapsable push-chairs. METCALFE, E. R. March 23, 1943, No. 4744. [Class 108 (i)] A collapsable push-chair comprises two open frames 1, 2 pivoted together at 8, being each covered. with fabric 3 and forming the back and seat respectively, which are retained in the position of use by stays 9 and can be collapsed towards each other. The body is supported by wheels 11 mounted on an axle 10 carried below the pivots 8 in the frame 1, to the bottom strip 16 of which is pivoted a handle in two parts 12, 13, jointed together to allow of collapsing, overlapping metal plates of the joint being locked in the position of use by spring bolts 24, Fig. 4, provided with releasing members 27. The forward edge of the seat is connected by pin-and-slot 17, 18, to the handle part 12 so that the handle and body parts may all collapse together.
