Abstract

564,419. Two-part couplings. CONRADI, E. S. Jan. 13, 1943, No. 621. [Class 38 (i)] A device for anchoring a lead to a plug - and - socket coupling comprises a lateral projection to which the lead can be attached by looping, knotting or tying. The anchoring device 18 comprises a flat member of insulating material attached to one of the coupling members or interposed between them and having its free end 24 shaped by the formation therein of lateral notches 28, 29, or a central slot or hole 26, or both to receive the lead which may be attached by passing a bight through the slot or hole, opening the loop so formed and turning it over the end of the anchor to lie in the notches. The anchor plate may be attached to the coupling merely by passing the plug pins through holes 21 ... 23 therein, or it may have clearance holes for the pins, being attached by screws to the face of the plug member. Alternatively, it may form the cover-plate for the plug member or it may be clamped between the cover-plate and the grip-portion of the plug member. Instead of being a flat sheet, the free end of the anchor member may be thickened and provided with a groove forming a waist.
