Abstract
624,053. Two-part couplings. HOOVER, Ltd., and COLSTON, A. G. May 23, 1947, No. 13888. [Class 38 (i)] The contacts C, D of a coupling are mounted on rigid bodies A, B, preferably insulating, Fig. 4 (not shown), which can be manually displaced from one another so as to retain the contacts always parallel and are resiliently restrained towards one another by an embracing ring of resilient insulating material. The bodies A, B are provided with V-shaped webs A<SP>3</SP> , B<SP>3</SP> and are mounted back-to-back so that when buttons F<SP>2</SP> are pressed, wedges F displace the bodies outwardly against the action of a surrounding resilient casing G having a rim to hold the parts together. The body A has an anchor for the leads and the casing G has a cable protector. In a modification (Figs. 5, 6, 7, not shown), a single symmetrical wedge moves the live pins and carries the earth pin; alternatively, cam surfaces replace the wedge and alternative holes are provided for the earth pin.
