[Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XV] Relates to translucent pictures, which are intended to be illuminated from the back and are divided into sections by partitions, so that different sections may be illuminated in sequence, as described in Specification 546,174, the pictures having black areas covering parts, such as the background of the design, which' never require to be illuminated. According to the invention, such pictures are produced by printing the design on one side of a translucent sheet of paper &c. and'the black areas on the other side, providing the black areas with lightcoloured lines 23, Fig. 2, to indicate the positions where the partitions are to be secured, and fixing partitions along the lines. The two sides of the sheet may be printed from identical blocks or stones, one being the reverse of the other and being modified to produce the black areas. The lines 23 may be formed by unprinted portions, or may be overprinted with a light-coloured ink. The design may be printed on the back of the sheet, so as to become visible on illumination. The picture is mounted on a glass sheet, and the partitions 16, 20, Fig. 3, which may consist of strips of cardboard bent to shape, are secured in position by adhesive tape. The back of the sheet and the partitions are sprayed with transparent varnish, which may serve to hold some of the partitions in place.
