[Also in Group XV] In decorated cards, &c., made of sheet material parts of the contours of a picture on the sheet are detached from the rest of the picture and extend into a different plane and are interlaced with each other so as to extend in at least two superposed planes. Fig. I shows a picture produced on one side only of the sheet but distributed over two parts A, B which are joined by a part C, the sheet being folded along lines 1 and 2 to superpose the three surfaces. Folds are also made along lines 3, 4, 5 and 6, Fig. 3, so that parts project through the aperture 30 and parts such as 18 and 19 project through cut out spaces in the part 17. Thus parts 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 22 are in a plane above the back-ground section A, and ports 18, 19 in a still higher plane. Corners 13, 14 are inserted in slots 15, 16. Other arrangements are shown having more and/or differently arranged parts than the parts A, B, C. The card may be formed with a complete or subdivided cover, or with a double-folded portion to enable it to stand. The different parts may be formed from different materials, e.g. transparent paper, which may be differently coloured, or printed in different colours. Luminescent paper, paper which changes colour when exposed to air of greater humidity, paper which tends to curve when breathed upon, and the like may be used. Small paper pieces may be glued to the back of the card to make the picture stand out, and the pictures may be framed and covered with a spaced transparent layer.
