562,599. Sewing machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Dec. 31, 1942, No. 18583. [Class 112] A rotary thread take-up 18 has a throat 23, for normal engagement of the thread, formed between the disc 18 and the part 19 by which the disc 18 carries the guard ring 20. A second thread throat 25 is formed at the rear of the part 19 and adjacent to the guard ring. If the machine reverses, the thread is caught by the throat 25 and caused to lie across a groove 26 in the outer surface of the part 19. A stationary cutter 32 mounted in the face-plate 28 is adjusted to run through the groove in each revolution and any thread lying across the groove is cut. The takeup 18 may be one of a pair of co-operating rotary take-ups.
