535,528. Sewing machines. FAIRWEATHER W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). April 6, 1940, No, 6233, [Class 112] A rotary take-up is provided with co-acting thread severing members for preventing abnormal winding of the thread in the event of thread breakage. Two discs 17, 18 are separated and secured together by two thread pins 19 and form the take-up, making two revolutions for each revolution of a co-operating take-up as described in Specification 496,367. A stationary ledger blade 29 is secured to the machine head and a rotary cutter 33 is secured to the disc 17. The meeting surfaces of the parts 29, 33 are inclined in opposite directions to the tangential and the cutting edge of the cutter 33 is inclined. Normally the thread rides on the curved interior surface of the part 29.
