Abstract
562,375. Water gas generation; oil gas. STEINSCHLAEGER, M. Sept. 24, 1942, No. 13458. [Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii)] In the production of carburetted water gas and oil gas the sensible heat of the gases leaving the generator is utilized, with or without further heating; and with or without the addition of other hot gases, to effect the evaporation or cracking of oil, tar, or the like, which is mixed with the gases in one or more stages, the amount of the sensible heat of the gases leaving the generator being regulated by choosing the point or points at which said gases leave the generator. In a modification, a regenerator is employed heated by the blow gases, whereafter steam with or without carbon dioxide, and with or without a fluid fuel or a mixture of water gas, oil vapour and cracking products, is passed through the regenerator, and the sensible heat of the gases leaving the regenerator is utilized to effect evaporation or cracking of oil tar or the like mixed with these gases. The carburetted water gas may be used to drive an engine, and the sensible heat of the exhaust gases may be used to evaporate and crack oil. During a run, steam is admitted through conduits 10, 11, 12 to the top of the reaction zone 1a, and part of the water gas and excess steam leaves through conduits 5 and 6, and oil is admitted through conduits 13, 14 and is evaporated and cracked, the carburetted water gas leaving through conduit 4. The remainder of the water gas and excess steam leave through conduit 3, part of the heat being stored in the ash 15. Specification 562,400 is referred to.
