562,086. Pile fabrics. STRODE, M. (legal representative of Allen, R. S.). July 16, 1942, No. 2326/44. Divided out of 560,290. [Class 142 (iv)] A warp A of yarns is supplied to the pleating mechanism of a machine for making cemented pile fabrics by apparatus comprising a clamping device 91, 93, a loop-forming device 112, 129 on each side of the clamping device and camoperated means for operating the loop-forming and clamping devices in timed relation. The cams 107, 118 for the clamping device and the loop-forming arm 112 are so related that the arm 112 draws a length of the warp while the movable member 93 is held closed, and the cam operating the arm 129 is arranged to actuate the arm to draw the warp through the opened clamp. A spring 95 tends to hold the movable jaw 93 in contact with the fixed jaw 91, and the movable jaw has a bar 96 covered with material 98 such as emery cloth fixed to it to form a gripping surface. Tension rolls are provided for operating upon the warp before it reaches the arm 112, and a guiding roll is provided for the warp leaving the arm 129.
