Abstract
561,577. Lamp-holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., MANCHESTER, W., and ADAMS, R. A. Jan. 11, 1943, Nos. 502 and 503. [Class 38 (i)] The bayonet socket 8 of a lamp-holder &c. is formed by rolling a sheet-metal blank and is attached to the insulating contact-carrying body 6 by tongues bent into recesses in the body. The tongues 4, 5 are formed one at each end of the blank so as to prevent opening of the joint in the socket, both these tongues being bent into a single recess 9, the recess 9a at the opposite side of the body 6 receiving the tongue 3. The edge of the socket 8 is seated on a shoulder 7 on the body. The body 6 may be secured in a base 17 by a screw ring 20, rotation between the body and base being prevented by segmental projections 18 entering corresponding recesses 19. For a pendant a cap may replace the base. A shade ring 23 or shield also screws on to the body. Elongated recesses 16 guide the leads into the terminals 12, the screws 13 being accessible through lateral holes in the body. According to one Provisional Specification, if the socket is to be attached to a body of moulded synthetic resin, it can be set in the body during moulding.
