Abstract
561,374. Vehicle wheels. ANGELIS, A. C. J. F. DE. Nov. 23, 1943. No. 15630/42. [Class 144 (i)] In a flexible wheel, a chain-like tread portion is supported internally by spring members 6 extending beyond the articulations of the links 4 and carried by longitudinally-yielding spokes 2. As shown in Fig. 3, the spokes consist of telescopic members collapsable against the resistance of internal springs and are connected to the tread by pivots 3. The spokes may be connected to the hub by pivots 13 or may be rigid therewith. In a modification, Fig. 5, the spokes comprise hydraulic cylinders 18 and are in communication with an annular space 21 within the hub by means of apertures 26. In a further modification, the collapsable spokes are connected to the links of the tread member through rubber buffer pads. The tread member may be provided with rubber pads 5.
