Abstract

561,160. Valve generating circuits. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CAMPBELL, C. F. Nov. 4, 1942, No. 15527. [Class 40 (v)] Stability of frequency in an oscillator of the electron - coupled type and using an iron-cored inductance is obtained by arranging a non- linear impedance in the circuit so as to control the oscillatory current flowing in the inductance with varying operating voltages. The Figure shows a screen-grid oscillator with the screen grid connected to a potentiometer arranged in series with a non- linear resistance NLR of the silicon carbide type or a non-linear element comprising an iron-cored choke or a glow lamp of the metallic filament type. In this way an increase in the supply voltage will decrease the 'impedance NLR and thus the load on the valve so that the voltage across the circuit L, C1 will be prevented from increasing by the increase in current and the consequent voltage drop in the internal impedance of the valve. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 560,780.
