Abstract
540,941. Valve generating circuits. VANDERLYN, P. B., and WHITE, E. L. C. Feb. 15, 1940, No. 2874. [Class 40 (v)] A generator comprises a pair of valves 1, 2 with an impedance R1 common to their cathode circuits, having a high value compared with the reciprocal of the valve mutual conductance. The frequency determining circuit L2, C2 in the anode circuit of one valve and is coupled to the grid of the other valve. Instead of a parallel tuned circuit a delay network may constitute the frequency determining circuit. The amplitude may be controlled by varying the feed current by varying the bias either by varying the common cathode resistance or by a potentiometer. As shown automatic bias control is obtained by rectifying part of the output by diode G to which a variable delay voltage is applied. The common impedance may be a resistance, or a choke, or a complex network comprising an inductance in series with a condenser the whole being shunted by an inductance in series with a parallel combination of a resistance and a further condenser Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively the common impedance may be a pentode valve the grid bias of which may be automatically controlled. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 541,149.
