Abstract
561,092. Screwdrivers &c. ATHERTON, H.' Oct. 30, 1942, No. 15294. [Class 61 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] An impact wrench or screwdriver comprises a stem 1 with right- and left -hand helical grooves 10, 11 cut therein and a flywheel 13 carrying a button 14 having a key engageable with either groove so that when the flywheel is moved along the stem by handles 19 on a boss 20 rotatably connected with the flywheel the latter is rotated and delivers a forward and rotational blow on the tool holder 7 at the end of the stem. The device may be provided at its upper end with a breast plate or it may be supported at the desired height on a pillar 24 by a clamp 26, 27 and held by the operator's foot resting on the part 25. A ratchet may be interposed between the handles 19 and the flywheel.
